Request for Proposals
CPB’s program investments include the Program Challenge Fund. The Program Challenge Fund was created in 1987 to support high profile, primetime limited series and specials for the national public television schedule. The Program Challenge Fund is jointly administered by CPB and PBS. The goal of this fund is to bring limited series and specials to the PBS primetime schedule that will define and lift a given television season (creating a “tent poleâ€), attract new or infrequent viewers to the PBS primetime schedule, and generate publicity for public television.
CPB is interested in measuring the impact of the Program Challenge Fund tent pole program scheduling strategy. To that end, CPB will order and analyze available Nielsen NSI ratings data. CPB is now seeking proposals for a research study (or studies) designed to add insight beyond the Nielsen data with respect to both the tent pole program scheduling strategy as well as the awareness, attitudes, and usage of a segment of the target audience (i.e. Hispanic television viewers).
New applications are no longer being accepted. Check this page for updates about this initiative.
