STEM Digital Media Resources for Learning Evaluation

Request for Proposals

In August 2009, CPB awarded seven Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) Digital Media Resources Production Grants to nine stations. The purpose of these grants was to enable public broadcasting stations to develop, produce and evaluate Digital Media Resources (which could include audio, video, interactives, animations, documents, games, simulations and images) in the Earth Sciences with an emphasis on Climate Literacy. The target audience for the Digital Media Resources is middle school students and their teachers.

Primary goals of this initiative included:

  • Building an inventory of digital media resources to be freely shared among public media entities and educational organizations;
  • Creating content around STEM concepts that are difficult to teach and learn;
  • Building upon and expanding content collections available via public media digital content respositories;
  • Fostering 21st Century skills;
  • Increasing public media station capacity for partnering with state educational organizations;
  • Creating an economically attractive content production model; and
  • Measuring and evaluating impact of learning.
  • CPB is now requesting proposals from a person or firm to conduct an evaluation of the STEM Digital Media Resources Production Grants.
