Request for Proposals
The Corporation for Public Broadcasting ("CPB") is seeking proposals from public media organizations to serve as Demonstration sites for the new Ready To Learn initiative called Expanded Learning Through Transmedia Content, under the U.S. Department of Education Ready To Learn grant (No. U295A100025, CFDA No. 84.295A). CPB expects to fund up to five projects.
Selected stations will develop and execute a community implementation plan with local education partners, including expanded learning organizations in after-school and summer settings. The plans must incorporate Ready To Learn transmedia content developed by PBS, CPB, and Ready To Learn partners to improve the math and literacy skills of children ages two to eight from low-income families ("target audience"), as well as provide training and resource education to their families, caregivers and educators. The plans should be designed as replicable models of transmedia learning that advance the work of Ready To Learn and can be adopted by the broader system of public media stations and partners.
The project is expected to begin on November 1, 2012 and to be completed by September 29, 2013 (contingent on annual federal appropriations for the Ready To Learn program).
New applications are no longer being accepted. Check this page for updates about this initiative.
