Job Description:

Title:  Sr. Scheduling Associate

Status:  Full Time-Non-Exempt  

Reports to:  Scheduling Operations Manager

JOB OBJECTIVE:

Coordinate daily scheduling of technicians and technical facilities in support of daily production activities.   Ensure posted daily schedule is always accurate and up to date and in accordance with the IBEW CBA.  This position reports to Scheduling Operations Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

  • Coordinate daily scheduling of technicians and facilities.
    • Assign technicians in accordance with Work Orders by matching individual skill sets to required production activities.
    • Maintain current and in-depth knowledge of technical staff capabilities, facility resources and certified freelancers.
    • Keep the posted schedule up to date and inform technicians and/or producers when changes have been made to the schedule.
  • Ensure all schedules, schedule changes, activities and assignments comply with applicable collective bargaining agreements, WETA policies and procedures, and employment laws.
  • Sr. Project Accountant in determining accurate and equitable accounting of the billing for technician and facilities time.
  • Provide back-up support to Scheduling Operations Manager and hallway staff.

SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED :

  • Knowledge of television production management.
  • Ability to understand and ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements.
  • Excellent organizational skills.  Must have a positive, results-oriented attitude.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong customer service orientation. Math aptitude is essential.
  • Strong understanding and application of computer technology to efficiently accomplish work, using Microsoft Office programs, email, Internet, database management software.  Proficiency with ScheduAll.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully perform in an atmosphere of multiple projects, shifting priorities, and deadline pressures. 
  • This position requires working on-site most of the time.
  • Ability to work irregular hours.  Must be available for on-call status including taking calls at home, sometimes at odd hours.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • College degree in Broadcasting or related field. Minimum two years of administrative office experience, preferably in a television production management environment.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LOCATION

WETA and NewsHour Productions are Washington, DC established media and news organizations.  We are a largely local workforce based out of the Campbell Place office in Arlington, VA.  WETA and NewsHour Productions value employee flexibility when possible.  Most positions based in our Arlington, VA office will be onsite or hybrid, depending upon the role.
