Producer Announcer - Morning Edition Host
WGBH/WCAI
This position will be the on-air voice and Host for 89.7 WGBH weekday
mornings. This Host is responsible for board operation and on air
presentation of The Takeaway and Morning Edition. Programs begin at
6:00AM
and conclude at 10:00AM, Monday - Friday. The Host is responsible for all
local cut-ins and local news casts as gathered and re-written from wire
services or other approved sources. Successful candidate will also report on,
research, write, edit and prepare news stories for local newscasts.
Responsible for frequent live or pre-recorded interviews with newsmakers
and local people of note. During news emergencies, the Radio
Producer/Announcer will anchor the shift, make call-outs and endeavor to
provide comprehensive and timely coverage of the news emergency for its
duration. Facilitates all technical aspects and crafts each break to include
required programming elements.
Requirements
A college degree is required (Masters preferred). Very strong journalistic
background essential – with at least 8 years journalism experience the
majority of which should be in broadcast journalism. Excellent reporting,
writing, grammar and communication skills as well as the ability to write with
journalistic instincts are essential. At least 3 years experience hosting a
public radio shift a requirement. Substantial experience in broadcast news
and general news knowledge and interviewing ability is required. Experience
in board and studio operations and familiarity with public radio in general is
