Summary
Capital Public Radio is looking for a seasoned newsroom manager. The Senior Editor helps manage day to day newsroom operations, coordinating efforts of departmental divisions, including local news, talk show, California Capitol Network and online. The Senior Editor works with reporters and producers in an editorial capacity. S/he has responsibility and understanding of news planning, reporting, editing and production, and supervises daily news assignments. The Senior Editor helps maintain ethical, editorial, artistic, and technical standards for radio news programs.
Duties
Job responsibilities include coordination of daily news coverage across department platforms; assisting in strategic planning for the department; serving as primary fact checker and script editor; helping to develop news story ideas; tracking issues and events for coverage; selecting reporters for coverage, scheduling stories for air.
Qualifications
Minimum five years full-time professional, progressively responsible experience in radio news. Management experience preferred; a four-year degree or equivalent experience required.
High level newsroom management abilities; strong news judgment; advanced copy editing and broadcast writing skills; team player; Computer literate; familiar with technology platforms and ways to utilize them effectively in reporting projects.
