Broadcast Producer for National Programming

North Carolina Public Radio-WUNC-FM, the public radio station licensed to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is seeking a Broadcast Producer for its national program ‘The Story with Dick Gordon’. The Broadcast Producer will be responsible for working closely with the Senior Producer of National Programming, the Managing Editor/Director of National Programming, the host, fill-in hosts and others to develop story ideas and schedule interviews for these informative shows. This position will involve extensive research into current issues in cultural trends, politics, health care, public policy and economics for the enrichment of the national public radio audience and listeners throughout the world.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field, with two years journalism or broadcast programming experience. WUNC will consider applicants with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Candidates must have excellent journalistic research and writing skills. A demonstrated ability to plan and meet deadlines –working with materials from a variety of sources and collaborators is essential. Ideal candidates have the ability to interact effectively with colleagues and possess exceptional written and oral communication skills. Thorough knowledge of radio broadcasting equipment, including digital editing programs, broadcast operating boards, phone screening systems and portable recording devices is highly desirable.
