WETA
BrainLine.org, funded by the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC), is a national multimedia campaign that disseminates authoritative information and increases public awareness about preventing, diagnosing, treating and living with traumatic brain injury. Over the past ten years, Learning Media has realized WETA’s commitment to education through national education services including websites, local and national television programs, and outreach and other activities to support them. The BrainLine website (www.BrainLine.org) joins the family of these award-winning national education websites produced by WETA: www.ReadingRockets.org, www.LDOnLine.org, www.ColorinColorado.org, www.LearningStore.org, and www.AdolescentLiteracy.org. The website is a major component of the project, along with webcasts featuring experts on brain injury, an electronic newsletter, print material, and an outreach campaign,
The Multimedia Designer will work with the Senior Multimedia Producer to lead the implementation of forward-thinking design, accessible CSS/HTML layouts, multimedia features, enhancements and services on BrainLine.org. The Multimedia Designer will use expert design sensibilities and superior new media knowledge to ensure that BrainLine .org is a well-organized and well-designed website providing an outstanding user experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong design background and experience translating those designs into functional web pages. They will also be comfortable developing multimedia for the web. Like the other BrainLine staff, the Multimedia Designer will work collaboratively within a team thriving in a fast-paced work environment with tight and defined deadlines.
Requires understanding of, and affinity for, the use of open source software and APIs; experience in implementing Web 2.0 features; strong creative design skills with an expert knowledge base in Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, Flash, video creation and encoding, content distribution networks (CDN), content management systems (CMS), social networking, and audience analysis and thorough knowledge of CSS, Javascript, PHP, and HTML. Minimum three years progressively more responsible experience in web-based design, front-end development, multimedia, user experience, web content packaging, web standards, video, or related field.
