Production Assistant, Connecticut Sports Network (CTSN)

JOB SUMMARY: Serve as production assistant and traffic coordinator for all CTSN programming. Assist in the production of live and taped games, as well as studio-based and field-produced programs. Assist with promotional elements including on-air promotion, press releases and other outreach. Responsible for scheduling of programming and interstitial material.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Produce program content as well as write, edit and oversee postproduction of programs and games on time and within budget
•Traffic programming and interstitial material using Pro Track
•Coordinate and oversee shoots for live and taped games as well as studio- and field-based shoots
•Coordinate and oversee web content
•Ensure successful completion of all underwriting requirements for CTSN
•Create Powerpoints, presentation documents and other administrative work as needed

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

•Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and experience, with preferably a sports broadcast journalism background or related field
•Two years of production experience writing and editing scripts suitable for television sports broadcasting; establishing time frames and meeting production deadlines; organizing and scheduling production teams on location shoots; preparing and working within an established budget for television programs; maintaining records of expenses, time, personnel, facilities and copyrights for reports; preparing, monitoring and evaluating budgets; supervising staff
•Ability to handle a large variety of projects simultaneously
•Familiarity with FCC rules and regulations regarding broadcast restrictions
•Awareness of compliance issues and understanding of copyright rights, releases, clearances and union contracts
•Knowledge of the capabilities and operation of television switchers, character generators, electronic media and video storage and editing equipment
•Effective communication skills, including a calm, confident, controlled demeanor within a heavy deadline-driven environment
