Position Description

 

Position Title: Morning Announcer/Producer

Department:              Classical FM Radio

Reports to:                 Classical Program Director

Date:                           December 20, 2012      

                                               

 

Position Summary:

Serves as Announcer/Producer and Master Control Operator during on-air shifts. 

Responsibilities include:                                                                                % Time Spent

           

  1. Serves as announcer for live local music programming and                           50%

live/ taped network (and other acquired) programs. 

Participates actively in on-air fundraising campaigns.

Solves (or reports) programming problems as they

occur.  During non-business hour shifts, takes responsibility

for overall FM operations.

 

  1. Music Programming: Curates the music to be played on the air                     35%

during the morning shift (Note: Morning Classics requires

considerable programming expertise and good musical judgment.)

 

  1. Monitors equipment/transmitter performance and maintains transmitter/      10%

program logs, reports/corrects discrepancies/problems

as they occur. Performs administrative duties (listener correspondence,                              

record keeping, filing, etc.) related to position; and

performs other tasks as assigned.

 

 

  1. Writes and produces promos for various programs                                        5 %

and program segments, as assigned; takes part as 

voice-over talent for, or host of other WNED programming,

as scheduled; participates actively in off-air promotional or

fund-raising activities (meet-the-public, season preview events,

for example), as required.

 

Qualifications and Education Required:

  •    Excellent on-air skills and knowledge of broadcast

   operations and standards.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of classical music and the concert world.
  • Previous experience in classical music radio preferred.
  • Undergraduate degree in music, broadcasting or related field.
  • Familiarity with current production and editing software highly desirable
