Position Overview
Wyoming Public Media Development Director is a senior level position that oversees fundraising and outreach activity for the state network.
Wyoming Public Media is the 3rd largest state network and the only public radio service in Wyoming. Centered in Laramie, it operates 28 sites covering over 90% of the state. Wyoming Public Media operates four services: Wyoming Public Radio, Classical Wyoming, Jazz Wyoming, and wyomingpublicmedia.org. The Development Department generates over $1.2 Million in revenue annually.

This position requires some weekend and evening work and in-state travel.
Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
Essential Duties
Supervise all Development department staff, including training and evaluations. Lead search, screen and recommendation process for hiring of all development positions. Participate in the search/screening of other WPR staff openings, as requested. Serve as backup in critical areas of the fundraising operation as needed.
Oversee activity in WPM Membership, Underwriting Sales, and Major Gifts/Donor departments. Work with General Manager to articulate guiding principles and goals for the three fundraising divisions that comprise WPM's integrated fundraising structure. Ensure achievement of annual goals. Guide and participate in the planning and management of on-air membership drives, direct mail, telemarketing, acquisition, member relations. Identify and incorporate successful sales strategies, client prospecting tools, and client relations protocols; coordinate on-air/online delivery of underwriting announcements. Oversee activity in the major giving program and ensure adherence to WPM goals and standards. Plan and oversee the departmental expenditure budget. Assume day-to-day responsibility for each development area during times of staff absence.
Develop strategies for grant opportunities based on WPM priorities. Monitor federal, state, and local granting entities for funding opportunities and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and present to management for consideration. Coordinate and manage the internal application process, including research, writing, communications, and submission of applications and proposals. Serve as liaison with funders. Develop and maintain a detailed schedule of reporting requirements and compile and submit all required reports. Maintain comprehensive historical records of documentation related to each grant. Develop marketing strategies that build public awareness for Wyoming Public Media. Plan and execute marketing campaigns. Work with WPM staff and University of Wyoming marketing professionals to create promotional material in a variety of platforms. Generate press releases for state and national sources.
Plan and coordinate station events related to awareness-building and fundraising. Identify opportunities for events for WPM alone or in conjunction with partners. Generate the budget and monitor event expenditures. Oversee regulatory and compliance issues related to events. Develop presentation material for print, online, radio, and mobile sites. Work with UW professionals to construct appealing material for meetings, fairs, and conventions. Develop talking points and speech material.
Budget Responsibilities: Establish revenue goals in all development areas.
Plan and oversee Development Department expenditure budget. Assist in developing overall WPM revenue budget. Participate in senior management meetings to represent the Development Department.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and three years of senior level managerial experience in public broadcasting fundraising or equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge of regulations governing public broadcasting fundraising
Record of successful fundraising, grant generating, and marketing activity
Excellent writing skills to include strong grant writing abilities
In-depth knowledge of fundraising software
Ability to work well with colleagues
Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
Ability to think independently and creatively

Desired Qualifications
Successful generation of grants over 100K
Working knowledge of specific public radio fundraising software
Evidence of collaborative work with public radio industry partners
