Position Overview:

The Board Affairs Coordinator will provide responsive, high-quality support to the President, the Special Assistant to the President, the Director, External Affairs, and StoryCorps’ Board of Directors, including managing schedules and coordinating travel, drafting correspondence, tracking/managing expenses, etc.  Additionally, the Coordinator will have significant responsibilities with regard to Board of Directors’ affairs, including preparing materials for Board and subcommittee meetings, recording meeting minutes, and researching prospective Board members.  The ideal candidate is extremely detail-oriented and organized, skilled at multi-tasking and logistics management, and an excellent communicator (verbal and written).  This position is a perfect for someone looking to pursue a career in fundraising or non-profit management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the creation, execution and delivery of all materials for the Board of Directors and subcommittees in conjunction with the Special Assistant to the President and Senior Development Staff
  • Draft correspondence to the Board of Directors on behalf of the President and Director of External Affairs
  • Record minutes for all committee meetings and track on follow up steps with staff and Directors
  • Research prospective Board Members
  •  Assist in the execution of Board members’ individual fundraising plans
  • Ensure StoryCorps is adhering to Board Bylaws
  • Manage calendar and answer phones for Director of External Affairs
  • Coordinate travel for the President, Director of External Affairs, and Board of Directors
  • Oversee all expenses related to the Board of Directors, Director of External Affairs and the President
  • Assist the Special Assistant to the President on projects and tasks as needed

Perform other duties to support the External Affairs function and the office of the President, as assigned

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications: 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least 2 years experience in executive support, administration / office management, development, or a related field
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills
  • High-level of interpersonal skills demonstrated in interactions with individuals at all levels, inside and outside the organization
  • Strong organizational and project management skills; adept at working under tight deadlines and managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in order to contribute to problem-solving activities within a growing, changing organization
  • Cultural competence and the ability to work successfully with diverse groups of people

Preferred:

Proficiency on a Mac platform
