KUT, Austin’s NPR news station is looking for an experienced beat reporter to cover Austin and Central Texas news with an eye to setting the agenda and engaging citizens in considering the news and issues important to this developing region. The successful candidate will be able to produce daily turn-around and feature reports for on-air/online segments that meet KUT standards and deadlines. We’re looking for someone with at least 3 years full-time broadcast news reporting experience within the last 5 years demonstrating increasing responsibilities. Extensive knowledge of Austin City politics and social issues, including an awareness of local political and activist organizations and interest groups. An understanding of Austin policy making including the role of city departments and City Council. A desire to explore Austin's diverse communities and seek voices that are often silent in our public discourse. Newscast experience and superior production skills, including ability to mix own stories and ability to report live on-air with short notice. Spanish speaking skills.
