Qualifications:
Required
Demonstrated experience and knowledge of audio principles, practices and equipment, a high level of previous technical experience. Demonstrated supervisory experience.
Knowledge of and/or experience in digital production and equipment
Prior experience in broadcast media essential.
Must have radio experience, computer skills, and familiar with latest broadcast software.
Preferred
Public/community broadcasting experience.
Demonstrated commitment to an environment with a diverse staff.
Fluency with social networking.
Responsibilities:
Includes oversight of daily broadcasting facility and technical operations of the station on and off site:
- Manage and supervise the station facilities.
- Schedule and supervise the use and maintenance of the broadcast and production sound studios. Take full responsibility for managing all systems of a technical nature.
- Maintain, monitor and manage the Station’s technical operation on and off site.
- Be on call 24/7 to manage equipment failures or station emergencies.
- Ensure OSHA/Fire/ ADA rules are followed.
- Maintain and implement safety rules/ emergency response practices.
- Prepare and maintain studio logs and department records assuring that they are in compliance with the station and FCC regulations.
- Schedule and coordinate regular calendar cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
- Provide technical and production support for programming departments including public affairs, arts, live radio and especially for the daily needs of the news department.
- Conduct regular operations departmental meetings with technical assistants, production engineer, chief announcer and others to help facilitate and plan work of department.
- Implement and supervise ongoing training classes for all staff that includes basic, mid-level, and advanced trainings on hardware and software.
- Participate and prepare facility and technical equipment for all fund-raising drives and special projects of the station.
- Coordinate technical and equipment needs for station for on-site specials and all fundraising drives as well as off-site and remote broadcasts
- Maintain inventory on equipment and supplies and supervise ordering of supplies.
- Research and recommend new equipment and supplies to meet ongoing technical and facility needs.
- Initiate and implement innovative projects that support the station’s technical needs.
- Supervision and training of station announcers, station engineer, web master, board operators and janitorial services.
- Maintain station facilities pertaining to operations
- Oversee and maintain phone system.
- Prepare and submit payroll forms to fiscal office as per the payroll schedule.
- Oversee the mail operation
