Description:
The Web Producer converts and builds radio scripts to online articles, updates and maintains the local and regional news content of WAMU.org and produces online news content. The Web Producer, who works a 6 a.m.- 2 p.m shift, collaborates with the WAMU newsroom, specifically reporters and the Assignment Editor, to identify opportunities on a daily basis to create and aggregate online content including photos, video, maps, graphics, and links, to support and expand the coverage by the newsroom. The Web Producer helps ensure that WAMU websites offer our listeners a rich online experience that is both reflective or and supplementary to the programming the news department produces. The Web Producer also helps maintain audio archives and performs general web production work as assigned by the Online Managing Editor.     
Educational Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree in journalism or mass communications, or the equivalent in work experience is required.
Minimum Requirements:
- One to two years experience in journalism
- Fundamental demonstrated understanding of and experience with Web design and development, usability, content management and e-communications  
- Strategic understanding of social media
- Ability to meet tight deadlines
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Strong design, writing and editing skills
- A strong working knowledge of AP style
- Solid news judgment
- Candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to multi-task
- Knowledge of and a commitment to the mission of public radio journalism
Preferred Requirements:
- A strong, working knowledge of XHTML and CSS with a working familiarity of a variety of design and development tools such as Adobe CS3 suite and Dreamweaver
- Proficiency with audio production tools including Adobe Audition and familiarity with video production tools and software, Adobe Premier or Final Cut
- A working knowledge of digital editing and the other field and studio equipment used by a professional radio newsroom
- Knowledge of the DC Metro area and a strong interest in local news
Additional Information:

The Web Producer works a 6 a.m.- 2 p.m shift.
