Show Manager, Michael Feldman's Whad'Ya Know?

POSITION SUMMARY:
The WYK Show Manager is responsible for operational, marketing, promotional and fiscal oversight for live shows of Michael Feldman’s Whad’Ya Know? This person reports to the WYK executive producer and supervises the WYK Production Assistant and volunteer staff.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor annual and individual local and remote broadcast budgets and expenditures. Work with accounting department to track costs and communicate status and budget limitations.
- Schedule fiscal year show calendar, including home shows, remotes, and rebroadcasts, taking into consideration venue availability, host preferences, and the interest of potential remote sponsors.
- Work with Producer to identify potential remote sponsors. Book and negotiate contracts for all remotes and serve as the primary liaison between WPR and local/ remote sponsors, partners, venues and vendors.
- Manage logistics, marketing and promotion for all remote broadcasts, including serving as liaison between WPR and venues/ broadcast facilities/ technical support/ ticketing/ production, arrange interviews, press conferences, and appearances with Michael Feldman and/or the WYK cast in anticipation of tour broadcasts.
- Provide FOH and venue management for live Madison broadcasts including but not limited to ticketing and will-call, audience seating, catering/event liaison and volunteer coordination.
- Write and process performance agreements and work-for-hire agreements as needed, in consultation with WPR legal counsel and director. Process ongoing home show contracts and agreements, as needed.
- Coordinate communication of operational details to WPR/ WYK staff and contractors as appropriate.
- Responsible for composing and distributing press releases (both locally and nationally) regarding WYK live broadcasts and /or related content from Host/Executive Producer.
- Develop and market ancillary WYK related products including, but not limited to, program CDs, books, premiums, apparel, etc. for sale to consumers as well as to stations as pledge/fundraising premiums. Manage inventory and sales of WYK-related merchandise at shows and on existing and future WYK Radio Store. Manage third-party merchandise sales including CD Baby and Amazon.
- Oversee merchandising at live show events including display, sales, inventory and security. Responsible for maintaining protocols for PCI compliance. Create weekly deposits and process credit card sales for day-of-show ticket and merchandise sales and other income (e.g. remote show income). Facilitate accounts payable of credit card and other invoices.
- Supervise volunteer staff and Production Assistant along with Executive Producer.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Plan, schedule and arrange logistics, marketing and promotion for local and remote projects.
- Operate computer to monitor project timelines, budgets and expenditures and to draft contracts.
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to work well with others in a supervisory capacity
- Serve as liaison between WYK? and WPR and external contacts as appropriate.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Two years’ experience in broadcast, event planning project management or related field.
- Superlative interpersonal/customer service skills to work with colleagues and the public.
- General experience with budgeting live events, or other projects.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills
- Resiliency to stay calm and focused during periods of high activity/distraction
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
- Live event/performance management a plus
- A background with Volunteer Coordination a plus
- Public radio experience desired.
- Ability to work with diverse, multicultural people and groups.
SALARY: The minimum salary for this position is $35,000. Actual pay will be dependent on qualifications and experience. UW-Extension offers a comprehensive benefits package.
