WMFE-FM in Orlando is seeking an experienced, professional, and creative News Director with an established record of excellence. The News Director will manage and lead a talented staff in planning, producing and presenting the news.

WMFE covers a seven-county area of Central Florida in the influential “I-4 Corridor.”  The region has beautiful beaches, lakes and springs, an energetic downtown in Orlando, charming small towns, plentiful cultural offerings, great restaurants and shopping … and of course world-class theme parks and attractions.

The Candidate will serve as backup host for all news programs.  Responsibilities include writing and delivering local newscasts, introducing local features, and hosting all other local breaks during Morning Edition and All Things Considered as needed.  The Candidate will run the board and perform all production duties for the shift.  

The News Director contributes content on a regular basis and is part of the news team. The Candidate will also use social media to keep the online audience up to date on news items, and provide blog posts and online content for WMFE.ORG.

Applicants should have at least five years full-time experience in electronic journalism or newsroom management. On-air hosting as well as a four-year degree in Radio/Television journalism or related fields, or equivalent work experience required. Public radio experience is preferred. This is not an entry level position.
