Director of Marketing and Development

General Description:

The Director of Marketing and Development (DMD) will provide leadership and coordination for all aspects of station promotion/marketing and financial development, including underwriting, memberships, grants, and special event fundraisers. The DMD will take a leading role in capital campaigns and other major giving initiatives. The DMD will participate in long-range strategic planning with an eye toward optimal financial growth and long-term sustainability/prosperity.

Primary areas of responsibility include:

  • Underwriting – Soliciting business and individual support for KPVL in general and individual programs; hiring and overseeing/managing commissioned staff in this task; recording and trafficking all underwriting announcements.
  • Grants - Conducting of grant searches; writing grants; hiring and overseeing/managing grant writing staff in this task.
  • Special Event Fundraisers - Planning and organizing of fundraisers; soliciting business sponsorship of fundraisers.
  • Membership – Planning and organizing of pledge drives; targeted (mailing, emailing, etc.) campaigns to increase membership.
  • Marketing – To increase listenership and raise awareness of KPVL, DMD will craft, organize, and implement marketing strategies.

This is a part-time (20 hrs. per week) position. Compensation includes a base salary plus commissions.
