Assistant Director (News Director)

WFSU-FM seeks an individual with knowledge of the standards, principles, trends, and practices of radio. The successful candidate will manage overall production of news segments and programs for the news division. Develop and implement a plan to direct and coordinate production activities and assignments for local, regional, and statewide program distribution including directing any national story submission in consultation with the station manager. Additional responsibilities include planning and producing a variety of news and feature stories for daily and weekly broadcast on programs produced by WFSU for local and statewide distribution and serve as liaison with Florida Public Radio Network affiliates providing daily production and distribution information as well as coordination of special productions and features. Serve as contact person in coordination of state, regional or national story production and distribution.
Bachelor’s degree and four years of experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to eight years. The candidate must have a valid Florida or Georgia Driver’s license and successfully complete a criminal history back ground check. Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and the ability to gather, interpret, report, and/or edit information as well as the ability to evaluate process effectiveness and develop change or alternatives.
