Primary Duties
The Digital News Producer (DNP) works as part of the CapRadio News Team to enhance and expand CapRadio’s news presence on digital platforms. This includes aggregating existing content and creating original content in support of CapRadio’s news programs and reporting. The DNP may occasionally function as a quasi reporter/blogger during breaking news events. The DNP will also write and update news copy for digital platforms. This position is tasked with enriching CapRadio’s digital news presence by integrating and incorporating value added content into stories. The DNP utilizes social media, the web and other digital platforms to seek out and engage with new and diverse audiences.
Qualifications
The position requires strong verbal, written, and proofreading skills. The ideal candidate is team oriented with a professional demeanor; innovative and able to juggle projects simultaneously with poise and a positive attitude. Candidates should have excellent organizational and time management skills, coupled with the proven ability to problem solve, set priorities, and manage deadlines. Candidates must also exhibit effective communicative and interpersonal skills. The DNP must be proficient in newsgathering, writing, editing, copyediting and media production. Candidates must be adept in CMS applications, Adobe Creative Suite, and HTML/CSS. Bachelors degree in journalism or related field or three years of experience in a similar capacity. Public broadcasting experience is preferred.
Familiarity with Capital Public Radio and its programs is a plus.
