Web Developer/Designer

NETA / National Educational Telecommunications Association

NETA’s Web Developer participates in developing, maintaining, and improving NETA’s online presence and digital media strategy.  The candidate will report to the Director, NETA Education Center and will work collaboratively with NETA department heads.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

·         Works as Web director and graphic designer, to define, design, develop, plan and launch new web projects in line with NETA’s digital strategy.

·         Maintains and customizes a variety of CMS platforms, developing interfaces and workflow to NETA’s specific needs.

·         Leads front and back-end development of websites and e-newsletters

·         Creates and supports engaging web sites for NETA, its annual conference, its client organizations (OSBE, the Public Television Affinity Group (AGC), NETA Consulting) and others.

·         Identifies areas for site improvement, adding features and functionality where appropriate to augment the user experience.

·         Collaborates with the Manager, Program Development, to create front-end interfaces for YouTube and NETA video products

·         Maintains a productive relationship with VC3, NETA’s Internet service provider, for NETA’s web server

·         Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills required:

·         Expertise developing websites using PHP, Javascript, HTML & CSS.

·         Expertise administering and customizing platforms like Wordpress, Drupal, Joomla, etc.

·         Experience utilizing and developing public and private APIs

·         Familiarity with web standards, responsive frameworks, and CMS.

·         Knowledge of cross-platform and cross-browser compatibility issues.

·         Experience integrating front-end templates with back-end functionality.

·         Experience designing for SEO.

·         Familiarity with responsive design and formatting websites for mobile devices.

·         Demonstrated ability to work on diverse projects simultaneously, requiring detailed analysis, creative/practical problem solving, and sound judgment.

·         Desire to work in a non-profit, public media environment.

·         Knowledge of online video trends.

·         Great attention to detail.

·         Strong communication and collaboration skills.

·         Must possess a sense of humor or be willing to obtain one.

Education Requirements:   

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, related field or equivalent experience.
