Strategic Analyst

The Strategic Research team provides strategic research guidance and support to members of WGBH’s Executive Management team as well as a wide range of departments throughout WGBH including but not limited to Radio, Local Television, National Productions, Local Development, Local Marketing, WGBH Creative, and Station Relations.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Director of Strategic Research, the Strategic and Insights Analyst is responsible and accountable for managing and working on a variety of quantitative, qualitative and custom survey research projects in support of WGBH’s strategic plans and initiatives. Areas of responsibility include providing strategic insight, recommendations and research guidance for WCRB, WGBH Newsroom (89.7, Greater Boston and local productions), WGBH’s local television properties and a wide range of departments throughout WGBH. This position needs a strong understanding of media research methodology and a strong knowledge of media research databases including a variety of Nielsen and Arbitron software applications. Additionally, this individual is required to work with Director of Strategic Research on large-scale project management initiatives.

Skills Required:

• 2-3 years of a media market research background
• Understanding of public media
• High than average aptitude for Microsoft applications – especially PowerPoint and Excel
• Strong understanding of Nielsen and Arbitron methodology
• Proficient in a variety of syndicated research tools including Scarborough, MRI, Simmons, Nielsen software (NPOWER, Local Custom Toolbox, Arianna), Arbitron software (Analysis, TapScap, XTrends, Smart Plus), Pro-track, Lexis Nexis and Monkey Survey.
• Must be very detail-oriented, extremely organized, strong ability to multi-task
• Analytical and strategic thinker a MUST
• Ability to work independently
• Must maintain a professional manner at all times
• Ability to work on projects that require confidentiality

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree
