I. BASIC INFORMATION

 

POSITION TITLE:                               REPORTER

DIVISION:                                             RADIO

SUPERVISOR'S TITLE:                     News Director

EXEMPT:

 

II.   PURPOSE OF POSITION

 

        Serve as news/feature reporter/producer. 

 

 

III. BASIC DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

       

·         Regularly produce news and feature pieces for air during “Morning Edition” and “All Things Considered”.

·         Serve as local host of news/talk programs as needed.

·         Ability to read and announce copy in a conversational style.

·         Ability to operate studio and remote equipment.

·         Produce interview segments.

·         Write copy for and post stories to web.

·         Ability to fill other news shifts as needed.

·         Participate in all station on-air membership drives.

·         Participate in all station-related internal and external activities.

·         Appear on WKNO-TV’s “Behind The Headlines”

when requested.

·         Work cooperatively with others to further the missions and goals of the organization.

·         Perform other job related duties as assigned.

 

IV. MINIMUM JOB SPECIFICATIONS

 

·         Bachelor's degree, preferably in communications or journalism.

·         Two years radio or journalism experience (preferably in public radio).

·         Audio production experience required (preferably with digital editing).

·         Excellent oral and written skills.

·         Strong storytelling abilities.

·         Familiarity with NPR style of reporting.

·         Computer proficiency required.

·         Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.  Some light travel may apply.

·         Ability to sit for long periods.

·         Ability to lift 25 pounds.
