Position Overview

• To secure sponsorship of television and radio programs for the support of public broadcasting in the Capital Region and Mid-Hudson Valley.

 

SPECIFIC OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• This person will work directly with the Director of Corporate Support of WMHT to secure corporate funding for programming on WMHT-TV, WMHT-FM, WRHV-FM, and WEXT-FM.  Will also secure corporate funding for wmht.org.
• Securing new individual and corporate supporters and renewing and cultivating current supporters to meet revenue goals.

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain an ongoing relationship with corporate clients through in-person, telephone and email correspondence.
• Cold calling to develop new prospects as new business is essential.
• Prepare and present presentations for new and existing accounts.
• Work with prospects/clients and internal staff to create effective and acceptable TV and radio underwriting messages.
• Report weekly to the Director of Corporate Support progress made with clients.
• Be visible within the community as a representative of WMHT.

 

REQUIREMENTS

• 3-5 years of successful sales experience, preferably in broadcasting
• Bachelor’s degree
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Self-motivated, detail oriented and goal focused.
• Must be a team player that can also work independently.
• Ability to build strong internal support among diverse departments.
• Strong PC computer skills, including Word, Outlook, Power Point, Excel, Salesforce and Media Audit
• A valid New York State driver’s license and good driving record is required for all WMHT positions.
• Commitment to the mission and goals of public broadcasting.
• Ability to maintain a flexible schedule.
