Development Coordinator, Patron Programs

The New York Public Radio Development Coordinator, Patron Programs is responsible for direct mail, donor services, gift processing and data management designed to meet the short- and long-range goals of the Patron Program. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develops and manages all aspects of the WNYC and WQXR Patron Programs direct mail campaigns including letter writing, coordinating production of all materials, maintaining yearly calendar for mailings, coordination with mail house and analyzing the campaign results.
  • Manages communications through mass-email software and tracks results for future benefits-related initiatives.
  • Serves as the frontline representative from WNYC/WQXR for all Patron donors. Independently determines and manages appropriate responses to written and verbal correspondence from patron donors.
  • Assists other Department staff and is a critical team member in the development and implementation of WNYC/WQXR programs and processes intended to enhance donor identification, cultivation and solicitation through the conception, planning and execution of events for patrons and major donors. 
  • Manages Patron RSVP process, event check-in and follow-up processes; represents WNYC/WQXR at these events by talking with donors. 
  • Works with Patron Program Manager to prepare and analyze weekly, monthly and annual revenue and expense reports; ensures that expense budgets are maintained; helps to develop new reports to analyze fundraising initiatives.
  • Oversees patron gift processing to ensure accuracy; reviews daily and weekly reports to identify specific donor requests, special coding or acknowledgments.
  • Occasionally oversees interns and volunteers, directing them at events and in Patron Program administration
  • Additional duties and special projects designed as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must be a highly energetic professional with keen interest in building donor relationships and advancing in fundraising.  
  • Excellent communication skills—both oral and written – and able to build and maintain relationships with people at all levels of an organization, across a diverse range of cultural, generational, ethnic, racial, educational and social backgrounds. 
  • Must have exceptional organization and time management skills.
  • Must have the able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A passion for public media is essential.  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must be willing to work some evenings.

  • Bachelor's degree from accredited four-year college or university and two to three years of development or other related experience. 
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible, proactive, detail-oriented and to self-manage.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Excellent computer skills are required. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, the Internet and fund raising databases are required. General understanding of how fundraising databases function is essential.
