New York Public Radio (NYPR) seeks to form mutually beneficial and long-term partnerships with corporations that generate a new revenue stream and support NYPR’s brand portfolio and organizational priorities.  Reporting to the General Manager of Corporate Underwriting and Integrated Media Sponsorships, the Director of Corporate Partnerships is responsible for managing all strategies and activities for corporate donor cultivation, sponsorship solicitation, contract negotiation, and partnership activation.  This is a unique position that will straddle the line between Marketing and Philanthropy.  The Director of Corporate Partnerships will also meet regularly with the Director of Institutional Giving to coordinate requests for corporate philanthropic support for NYPR programs and work with the Underwriting team to identify incremental opportunities from our corporate underwriters.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee NYPR’s corporate sponsorship activities and develop and implement a plan to achieve an annual corporate fundraising target
  • Identify key corporate prospects and build a pipeline for future support of NYPR
  • Develop mutually beneficial and new revenue-generating partnership opportunities with companies by linking the mission of NYPR with their corporate missions
  • Develop, write, and submit proposals to corporations tailored to the needs and specific requirements of the potential supporters
  • Steward current and prospective corporate donors through activities such as phone calls, email, meetings, and visits, as appropriate
  • Maintain and document comprehensive information on all of the corporate relationships under management and ensure that this information is properly archived
  • Collaborate with events team on invitation management for cultivation events, propose and implement strategies to engage and attract new corporate prospects; assist with planning and executing comprehensive follow-up strategies with current corporate donors and prospects
  • Work to create an NYPR Corporate Advisory Board and act as the key point-of-contact for all cultivation efforts, solicitation of new Advisory Board members, annual meetings, and events

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 7-10 years successful fundraising, sponsorship, marketing, or public relations experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated ability to function as an integral part of a professional development team, making substantial contributions to increasing the bottom line
  • Self-starter with the ability to work both entrepreneurially and as a part of a team
  • Ability to identify, qualify,  and cultivate corporate relationships leading to substantial commitments
  • Experience developing budgets and sponsorship deals
  • Strong organizational skills & Ability to multi-task
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to target message to various audiences
  • Extremely high comfort level presenting to executives
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a flair for creativity
  • Knowledge of New York and national corporate donors preferred
