Underwriting Sales Associate

WNRN, an independent non-profit community radio station serving central Virginia is seeking a fulltime Underwriting Sales Associate.  

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Understand the unique sale strategy that selling public media underwriting requires.

  • Identify, develop, and secure new underwriting contracts while maintaining existing accounts.

  • Meet or exceed monthly sales goals set by supervisor.

  • Initiate sales calls, prepare formal presentations for marketing/sales plans, make face to face sales appointments, close sales and makes collections.

  • Assist the station in developing a coordinated sales team structure.

  • Write effective underwriting copy

  • Proficiency with Natural Broadcast System traffic software, email and business software, etc.

  • Renew and upgrade existing accounts prior to expiration.

  • Generate  weekly and monthly sales reports for supervisor.

  • Travel within broadcast territory to acquire new underwriting revenue and maintain accounts.

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of sales techniques and the ability to make effective sales presentations.

  • Computer knowledge necessary to create creative marketing proposals and to keep clear records of all contacts and transactions.

  • Individual should be self-motivated, results oriented and have the ability to thrive in a commission based position.

  • Individual must be able to work independently and as a member of a team of broadcast professionals with all the wackiness that situation implies.

  • Must interact effectively with individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds, ages, and varied business experience and have effective communication skills.
