News Director
KUNM Radio
KUNM is hiring a News Director to manage staff in the KUNM News Department and oversee the production and broadcast of KUNM news programming, including newscast reports, features, call in shows, specials and online content. Supervises four full-time staff and multiple part-timers.
KUNM seeks an experienced newsroom leader with a commitment to local news, diverse perspectives, and Public Radio core values. Must have a desire to guide and mentor a growing staff in multi-platform information gathering and reporting.
The successful candidate can incorporate the perspectives of multiple stakeholders in ways that represent the complexity of issues in a context that recognizes the many different communities in our state.
A Bachelor's degree with 1 to 3 years of directly related experience is required. Experience in managing a public radio newsroom is preferred. Preference for candidates who are fluent in conversational Spanish.
The position is full time, based in Albuquerque, and is benefits eligible through the University of New Mexico. KUNM is a diverse, multicultural station serving over 100 communities across central and northern New Mexico.
KUNM has a professional staff of 21. We work with more than 120 student and community volunteer programmers. We reach about 100,000 listeners a week in a service area of 1.1 million people.
