 This position acts as a vital link in the production team assisting the Morning Edition host and News Director in producing our daily morning news program. Major duties and responsibilities of this position include writing news copy for the Morning Edition Host, monitoring and researching developing stories, and helping to manage the morning news program’s social media presence. Applicants must have a college degree in Journalism or the equivalent journalism experience. The preferred candidate must be knowledgeable about current events, and intimately familiar with the Philadelphia area. This position requires excellent written and verbal communication, strong research skills and the ability to work efficiently and effectively in a high pressure, deadline-driven environment. The Morning News Associate must demonstrate good news judgment in order to monitor stories as they develop and identify which demand immediate attention. The position holder must have the ability to find stories that fit the unique strengths and approach a Public Media Newsroom. Broadcast news production experience is preferred. Due to the schedule of the morning news program, candidates must be able to consistently perform the responsibilities of this position at a high level beginning daily at 5:30 am.
