Position Title: Afternoon Announcer
Department: Classical Radio
Reports To: Classical Program Director
Status: Part-Time, Regular/Non-Exempt (25 hours/week - Air shit: 2-6 p.m. + prep time)
Position Summary: Serves as Announcer during afternoon on-air shift.
Responsibilities:
1. Serves as announcer and master control operator during local music programming and live or taped network (and other acquired) programs. Participates in on-air fund-raising during scheduled membership campaigns. Monitors transmitter performance and maintains transmitter program logs. Report (or solves) programming or equipment discrepancies or problems as they occur. Performs administrative duties (listener correspondence, record keeping, filing, etc.) related to the position; and performs other tasks as assigned.
2. Researches music to be played on-air. Writes/produces promos as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Required:
- Excellent on-air skills and knowledge of broadcast operations and standards
- Comprehensive knowledge of classical music and the concert world.
- Previous experience in classical music radio preferred.
- Undergraduate degree in music, broadcasting or related field.
- Familiarity with current production and editing software desireable.
