KOSU seeks a Morning Edition host and feature reporter to join its award-winning news staff. The successful candidate will be based in the Oklahoma City studios and is expected to conceptualize and produce original public radio stories, use content from a news wire and other station reporters to create weekday newscasts and incorporate local events into the morning news magazine. This is a position with a lot of room for creativity, and it is expected that the candidate will seek ways to expand the current value of public radio. The candidate is also expected to use analytical thinking and reporting skills to help the Oklahoma listening audience better understand what is happening in the world around them. Duties will include

--Arriving at work before 5 a.m. to begin production of news and weather forecasts for local inserts in Morning Edition and On Point.

--Collaborating with other local journalists and the associate director to coordinate news coverage.

--Supervising and assisting students in learning how to be successful local news reporters.

--Conceptualizing in-depth stories for air on KOSU and submission to national networks.

--Push the envelope to find ways to engage the listening audience.

--Gathering information and sound to produce stories.

--Editing in Adobe Audition.

--Posting news material to KOSU web site.

--Maintaining a log of produced and aired stories for FCC reports.

--Assisting the KOSU staff with on-air fundraising and attending station events on request.

--Interacting with the KOSU audience through social media networks.

--Regularly attend station events.

--Other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate is expected to work individually and collaboratively in order to produce news content and maintain open lines of communication with station staff and national editors. The individual needs to excel hosting, storytelling, analysis and interpretation of news and have the ability to work efficiently under deadline pressure. In addition he or she should have experience in various aspects of broadcast and online journalism. Some weekend work may be required.
