Title: Director of Digital and Social Media
Summary: Public Broadcasting Atlanta seeks a dynamic senior digital strategy leader to champion the company's vision for delivering a technology driven digital and social strategy that strengthens relationships with the communities we serve. The Director of Digital & Social Media develops and executes innovative social and digital media strategies. Responsibilities include bringing the full spectrum of social and digital strategy to shape and implement the strategic direction for the Digital Media team, providing strategic leadership, managing projects and budgets, building solid teams, leading new business development efforts, growing the business, and overseeing and mentoring a team of digital media professionals.
This thought leader must have a track record of setting a vision others rally behind, hands-on experience in driving the adoption and execution of a business plan to fulfill that vision. Our ideal candidate will bring the right combination of long-term vision and near term accountability necessary to deliver strong growth in digital revenue and the number of on-line/social media users. Based on strong appreciation and understanding of technology, this cutting edge leader will flawlessly translate digital concepts to constituents of various backgrounds and levels of familiarity with digital media/marketing.
He/she will be responsible for implementing enhancements which promote state of the art customer service and user experience as well as partner with cross-functional management teams to develop viable solutions to operational challenges and launch new features.
Accountabilities:
- Oversee and manage Website and all content and functioning of the Website, collaborating with internal stakeholders to create effective Web communications. (Ensure that streams, podcasts, audio/video components are readily available and functioning consistently and efficiently)
- In collaboration with internal staff, works to implement e-mail and Web campaigns to raise funds, engage supporters in advocacy and educate key audiences. This will include generating communications for national campaigns and collaborating to develop geographically specific communications strategies to build brands.
- Track and employ e-mail, Web and social media analytics to measure the impact of entire digital operation.
- Lead the strategy, execution and implementation of all digital communications.
- Closely oversee the day-to-day operations of the websites including prioritizing outstanding issues which need to be addressed, reviewing website feedback, and identifying opportunities to improve overall customer engagement and experience.
- Work closely with the COO on communications to ensure an integrated and strategic approach to all aspects of digital presence.
- Communicating website strategy and roadmap to operational management and integrating features and tactics to improve the online experience and reduce operational costs.
- Evaluating market research, customer trends, and website technological advancements to recommend and champion development initiatives, new content management tools, and other systems that improve the delivery of content and efficiency of website operations.
- Work directly with our Sr. Executive Team to identify, conceptualize, and implement innovative solutions that expands our reach to the communities we serve through content across current and emerging platforms.
- Lead project teams with high-level strategic and innovative counsel, mentor staff, and develop and managing group standard operating procedures as well as project budgets.
- Educate and encourage internal teams to embrace social media strategies and understand how those platforms complement other platforms (e.g., mobile).
- Drive social media and social media business development opportunities from concept through proposal development to implementation.
- Be a leader and engaged in the latest digital and social communication technologies and strategies.
- Be the expert on all things social/digital media, including blogging/microblogging, video and image sharing, streaming, podcasting, widgets, campaign management, mobile, social networking, etc

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university is required.
- Minimum 7-10 years of professional and applicable experience.
- Successful track record of leading digital and social media efforts proactively.
- Proven experience managing and inspiring teammates and developing strong positive relationships with staff.
Qualifications:
- Experience managing cross-functional digital teams is required. Knowledge of the broadcast media industry in general required; knowledge of the radio business in particular, and understanding of digital media business models are strongly preferred.
- Experience defining, launching and monetizing digital content.
- Prior experience defining website/online strategy, developing and deploying successful, communications and/or entertainment services. Ability to grasp operational and functional details of network and server operations and other technical details around the infrastructure.
- Analytical and results-oriented: able to identify, analyze and execute key elements of strategic vision.
- Must be detail and deadline oriented, have a can-do- attitude, and be able to handle numerous tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to be responsible for reaching interrelated financial and operational objectives.
- Able to evaluate options from a customer’s perspective.
- Cross-functional leadership and interpersonal skills: demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of the organization and variety of personalities, who is also resourceful, creative and a flexible team player.
- Excellent oral and written communications and strong presentation skills.
- Prior experience managing a team responsible for day-to-day website operation.
- Track record in identifying fresh approaches in utilizing existing data as well as developing appropriate project plans and processes to further develop PBA’s digital services.
- Strong project management skills, including exceptional organizational skills and attention to details; ability to drive and manage projects from conception to completion.
- Capable of working well with a wide variety of personalities and leadership styles.
