Promotions and Marketing Coordinator

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Promotions and Marketing Coordinator provides administrative and creative support to KPLU's Promotions and Marketing Director. This position is responsible for administering and maintaining Google AdWords campaigns; assisting with KPLU marketing campaigns and station events; coordinating the KPLU School of Jazz mentoring program; and maintaining online promotional content. This position is based in KPLU's Seattle studios. Reports to the Promotions and Marketing Director.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain KPLU and Jazz24 Google AdWords online marketing campaigns.
  • Assist with KPLU marketing campaigns (TV, print, bus).
  • Coordinate KPLU School of Jazz mentoring program including outreach, scheduling and attending recording sessions, and CD distribution.
  • Cultivate and maintain online promotional content including the KPLU and Jazz24 online event calendars.
  • Assist with Jazz24 affiliate relations.
  • Assist with planning of signature events and provide on-site support at those events and station-sponsored community events.
  • Assist Promotions and Marketing Director in cultivating media and community partners. 
  • Write press releases and on-air/online copy.
  • Attend weekly promotions/marketing meetings with Promotions and Marketing Director and Assistant General Manager/Director of Content.
  • Assist as necessary during KPLU and Jazz24 fund drives. 
  • Maintain and update press lists.
  • Understand and support the role of KPLU within the University and actively participate in university activities. 
  • Understand and support the KPLU Mission Statement, the KPLU Principles and Values Statement, and KPLU's Long Range Plans.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of radio, promotions, public relations and/or advertising.
  • Excellent people skills and experience working with the public.
  • Creative thinker able to identify and implement innovative programs and promotions.
  • Basic knowledge of design and production for print and online. 
  • Self-directed individual who can work independently and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Detail-oriented with good organizational, communication, and writing skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with various people and departments in collaborative settings.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel. 
  • Willing to occasionally work evenings and weekends at KPLU events.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2 years of experience in related field. Education can substitute for some experience. 
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Finalist candidate must satisfactorily complete pre-employment background check.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, promotions, PR, communications, or related field.
  • Basic familiarity of content management systems for the web.

SALARY:
Non-exempt; $14.04 - $15.56 per hour, DOE + excellent benefits pkg

WORK SCHEDULE:
PT; 20 hours per week. Hours are flexible Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm. Occasional evenings and weekends required.
