Project Director, Interactive Media & Engagement (Maslow Media contract position)

This is a Maslow Media contract employee for WETA. Temporary, 18-month assignment, full-time, Exempt status.
Overall Job Objectives: Direct all aspects of website development, social media and interactive engagement for WETA’s upcoming national production, “The Emperor of All Maladies.”
Principal Responsibilities
- Manage vital aspects of website development for “The Emperor of All Maladies” working with internal team, selected external web vendor, web video production team, and numerous partners on comprehensive digital strategy, content creation, and promotional roll-out. Oversees design, content creation, site architecture and wireframes and workflow.
- Oversee national station outreach and community engagement for “The Emperor of All Maladies” including managing grantee relationships, creating and posting tools for station activities, creating web-based station tools and managing the station reporting process. Manages all liaison duties between content providers, WETA and individual station in the public television system. In particular, the actual delivery of any web/outreach materials required to secure station participation in the promotion of WETA programs. Oversees strategies for station communication including the creation of station tools for online and print promotion.
- Forges and manages partnerships with national organizations for content creation, dissemination and promotion. Serves as primary liaison with national producers on creation and implementation of digital strategies and public engagement around “The Emperor of All Maladies”.
- Oversee the creation of educational materials using new technology and teaching tools to accompany “The Emperor of All Maladies” and market those materials to schools across the nation.
- Stay current with latest social media trends, technology and software applications to maintain high level of content that keeps pace with audience expectations.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of and proven ability to write/edit and produce interactive content.
- Knowledge of and proven ability and success in managing social media efforts.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to interact with a wide variety of people using diplomacy, tact and discretion.
- Excellent writing and editing skills. Careful attention to detail with strong editing, proofreading, research and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully perform duties in an atmosphere of multiple projects, shifting priorities, and deadline pressures
- Working knowledge of Final Cut pro editing software.
- Strong understanding and application of computer technology to efficiently accomplish work, using social media tools, HTML, Microsoft Office programs, email, Internet, and database management software.
Education and Experience
- College degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in digital media, web development, communications, or related field, preferably in the PBS system or video environment.
- Must include experience with social media.
