CPB Ombudsman Code of Ethics
The Corporation for Public Broadcasting Ombudsman is an independent observer of public broadcasting. The CPB ombudsman will adhere to the highest standards of journalistic integrity.
Although not a CPB employee, the ombudsman will abide by all provisions of the Code of Ethics and Business Conduct. The CPB ombudsman will not accept outside income from sources related to public broadcasting supported radio or television.
The ombudsman will confine reports to material that has been broadcast on the public airwaves, and will not engage in pre-broadcast commentary.
All decisions to review programming — and all reports on broadcasts — will be made by the ombudsman.
The purpose of this Code of Ethics is to formalize the commitment of the CPB Board to transparency, accountability, and independence of the ombudsman.
