Partnership for a Nation of Learners
Museums, libraries and public broadcasters joining forces, creating value.
Since 1999, the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting have engaged hundreds of library, museum, and public broadcasting leaders in a series of discussions about their common pursuits. These institutions care deeply about community issues and aspire to deliver educational content and service that illuminate and inform audiences of all ages.
A joint funding initiative of CPB and the Institute of Museum and Library Services, Partnership for a Nation of Learners is designed to serve America's communities by encouraging and enabling museums, libraries and public broadcasters to work together effectively, and in a way that addresses clearly defined local needs, interests and opportunities.
The program will provide $2.2 million in grant support for new and existing partnerships and the infrastructure/technologies that enable them. It will also provide professional development opportunities for practitioners and planners in the museum, library and public broadcasting fields. Training and materials will be provided on the web, and through audio and videoconferences, and will explore both strategic and tactical aspects of lifelong learning collaborations.
