Silverdocs Festival and International Documentary Conference: 2006-2008
A three-year project supporting the Silverdocs Festival and International Documentary Conference, a film showcase that draws more than 15,000 participants from around the world, among them independent filmmakers, industry and public media executives, national organizations, and the press. The project supports the festival and conference as a venue for professional development training for public television producers and independent filmmakers, and as a high-profile networking platform for the public television system and the opportunities the system presents to filmmakers. In the first year, CPB also funds a white paper to gain authoritative guidance on how the festival and the conference can nurture the next generation of production partners and talent for public broadcasting. The white-paper recommendations would inform decisions on the professional development training elements and direction for the festival and conference in 2007 and 2008.
