Democracy in the Land of the Pharaohs? (formerly The Arab Democrats)
This program is envisaged as a two-hour documentary about the struggles to establish democracy in the Middle East, which is a primary goal of American foreign policy since 9/11. There has been a battle for democracy in Egypt, which is home to one-third of all Arabs in the Middle East. This film will tell the story of Ayman Nour as a means of showing the struggle of pro-democracy forces in the Middle East. The filmmakers have obtained unrestricted access to Nour and his family, and will follow him through his trial and his continued struggles to establish democracy in Egypt.
