A Lion in the House

As one component of a community engagement campaign that includes ITVS, cancer support organizations, and public health service agencies, a youth community service kit was distributed before and after the national broadcast of the two-part series A Lion in the House, a documentary on children fighting cancer, as an Independent Lens special presentation. The kit will be primarily distributed through the Youth Service America network, an organization that partners with 114 civic and faith-based groups that provide volunteer opportunities for young people. The kit is intended to not only educate teenagers about pediatric cancer but also to encourage them, as part of high school community service requirements, to volunteer with organizations that serve families with childhood cancer.
