National Music Testing

This project will conduct classical music testing and will be designed to discover how today's public radio listeners respond to classical music. Building from the existing knowledge of earlier studies, it will test what types of music are the most appealing to the audience while examining the effects of pushing the "outer limits" of music. The goal is to gain a more concrete understanding of what core listeners define as the primary benefits of classical music radio, including its "soothing" quality while understanding the breadth of repertoire that can be presented in a successful station. The study results will inform the music programming of both all-classical and mixed-format stations.
