Vocalo
The project supports the community engagement aspects of WBEZ's Vocalo on-air/new media project. Vocalo is a stream of programming based on user content that will bring new voices and styles to the public airwaves. Vocalo's Web site allows users to upload audioâ€"personal stories, documentaries, reports, interviewsâ€"and other forms of new media (video and photographs) in a format designed to capture and reflect the region's diverse populations. The interactive elements of the Web site will inform and provide content for the on-air stream. In turn, the exchange heard on-air will drive listeners back online for interactive features. Vocalo is a ground-breaking service that paves the way for other stations to engage with new, more diverse audiences.
