Heart Disease: The Hidden Epidemic

The outreach campaign for Heart Disease: The Hidden Epidemic (a part of public television's public health initiative, for which production was funded in collaboration with PBS through the Program Challenge Fund) emphasizes themes central to the program: the effectiveness of prevention; the potential positive impact of lifestyle changes; the importance of accurate early diagnosis and treatment; and the role of support networks for patients and families. The project components include competitive station grants and training station outreach personnel in social marketing principles and strategies to provide outreach "infrastructure" to stations for long-term applications.
