Flashback Research and Development
Flashback is a multiplatform game and television show that allows students to "move backwards" in time by discovering facts and completing curriculum-based missions in a competitive race-type format all around the United States among game players. The game, intended to teach American history and civics, is designed to roll out in four stages: 1) on a local level, in cooperation with schools incorporating American Idol-like live regional competitions; 2) on the national level, with a broadcast television series and a major Web component; 3) in homes and schools with DVD games, personal electronic media, and printed materials; and 4) with continuing annual sequels. Flashback uses modern electronic media, old-fashioned physical and trivia-knowledge challenges, and the combination of American cities, pop celebrities, and historical sites to create a team game for kids.
