A 10-part reality series tracking the crew of the U.S.S. Nimitz on a six-month deployment to the Arabian Gulf from its home port of San Diego in 2005. This character-driven series provides an intimate and gritty look at the lives of the young men and women as they come to terms with the discipline required aboard ship, their pride of mission and mission fatigue, the adrenaline and the boredom, the sense of adventure and risks of shore leave, and ultimately the pull of home and the uncertainty of reuniting with loved ones. PBS has designated the series as a "tent pole" event for the primetime schedule that will receive concentrated promotion before the premiere broadcast in postelection 2008. WETA is the presenting station.
