Public broadcasting in American Samoa touches the lives of residents daily in their homes, schools and communities. The territory’s one public television station, KVZK-TV, plays a vital role in American Samoa education through its services for teachers and classrooms, parents and caregivers. In partnership with schools in the territory and nationwide, public broadcasting continues to pioneer technology to build the classrooms of tomorrow, today. Among other programs, projects and services, public broadcasting in American Samoa:

  • Offers programming that covers residents in outer villages. Thus, all residents of the entire American Samoa group of five small islands can enjoy local Flag Day celebrations, sports and cultural events.
  • Provides live coverage of school sports (football, baseball and basketball) and of arts festivals that involve school participation.
  • Includes programming by other ethnic groups (such as Filipino, Tonga, Chinese and Korean) during community festivals and arts festivals. Moreover, all local programming is bilingual, English and Samoan.
