Summary 


Create, prepare budget, research, produce, write, shoot, and edit content for Nebraska Public Media Television original, promotion and contract productions. Produces and/or directs studio, remote, and web streaming projects. Projects include multi-camera studio and ENG field productions. Produce, write, shoot, and edit short and long-form features with social and mobile components. Creation of promotional content including writing and editing. Ensure effective production of station’s brand identity.

Position:  Broadcast Engineer II

Hours:  Full time 40 hours/week

Description: 

Seeking an accountable and driven individual with Broadcast related experience, who is eager to become a part of the PBS Technology department. The Broadcast Engineer II position reports to the Chief Engineer and is responsible for the maintenance and installation and the station’s broadcast and IT equipment. The objective is to ensure consistency, continuity, excellent work quality and professionalism in pursuit of the station’s mission. This person will occasionally work holidays, nights, and weekends, and be included in an on-call rotation with other staff.

 

Essential duties include:

  • Executing the installation and maintenance of television equipment for 24/7 broadcast, scheduled productions, and live productions.
  • Provide technical support to Chief Engineer and Staff.
  • Other responsibilities and duties as required to ensure technical growth and excellence.

 

Position Requirements:

  • 5+ years’ experience in Broadcast systems or a related technical or RF industry.
  • Position requires good color recognition and hearing sufficient to monitor picture and sound quality as required.
  • Valid drivers’ license and vehicle insurance.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs, climb ladders and work on a rooftop or in a ceiling, be flexible enough to crawl and reach.
  • Experience operating various required test equipment and tools.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, communicating openly and honestly with team members, sharing information, and demonstrating caution and attention to detail when troubleshooting difficulties
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail and providing clear and accurate documentation.
  • PC, MAC, and Computer Networking knowledge and skills

Description: Provide system administration for Microsoft/Active Directory platforms. Manage a VMware Vsphere virtual server environment for over 185 servers. Provide support services for Enterprise SAN including monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Manage and maintain the video editing network and systems, VoIP phone system, endpoint security, and VMware VDI virtual desktop environment. Expertise in Cisco firewalls and switches, as well as advanced experience in network architecture and multiple VLAN routing. Expertise in SQL database management/maintenance.
