Job Description:

Alabama Public Television (APT) is seeking a full-time K12 Education Specialist for the APT Birmingham office location. This position provides leadership in the initiation, development and support of relationships with the educational community. We are searching for someone enthusiastic about contributing to the efforts of a collaborative team of professionals committed to the development and use of APT resources to benefit K12 education in Alabama. The position reports to the VP for Educational Services.

Responsibilities

  • Creating and delivering face-to-face and virtual professional development
  • Representation of APT at conferences, year-round
  • Recruitment of Alabama educators for teacher programs and other professional development opportunities
  • Integrating digital educational materials from APT and PBS LearningMedia into professional development presentations and student workshops
  • Identify and foster relationships with Alabama educators, LEAs, and community partners
  • Communicate and partner with other PBS stations for teacher programs and workshops
  • In-state overnight travel

Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited* college or university in education or comparable field
  • 5 years of professional experience in K12 educational outreach (i.e., teaching, education administration, teacher leadership), including 3+ years of teaching experience in the K12 classroom
  • Current knowledge of pre-K-16 educational trends, working knowledge of incorporating instructional video technologies and proficiency in the use of digital media tools in learning environments

Preferred

  • Familiarity with career education and/or workforce development
  • Experience coaching educators
  • Proficiency in the use of PBS LearningMedia and familiarity with the mission and services of public media

 

Salary Range: $50,253.60 - $102,664.80
