Its multi-regional station operations include 49 public radio stations and 42 translators in the Upper Midwest and California.

Your Role:

Spectacular Failures is a highly reported, narrative podcast which tackles some of the most spectacular business failures of all time, and what could have been done to avoid them. As the Assistant Producer, you will assist the podcast's Producer and Host with research, reporting, booking and editing. This is a temporary position with an end date of July 1, 2020.

Position Responsibility:

  • Provide research on episode topics.
  • Identify and book interviews with guests.
  • Record interviews and audio for episodes in studio and in the field.
  • Write copy for web.
  • Edit audio using protools.
  • Participates in daily, weekly, and other scheduled editorial planning meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 6 months to one year of applicable experience could be in form of an Internship

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple responsibilities under deadline pressure
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office systems
  • Able to work as a flexible, creative member of an energetic production team that includes other staff, independent contributors and content partners
  • Ability to make responsible judgments and to work with little or no supervision
  • Facility with digital production and communications media
  • Technologically fluent, with the capacity to learn new technology
  • Superior communication skills
  • Commitment to learn and uphold best practices
  • Ability to write, meet deadlines, and work independently.
  • Demonstrated interest in podcasting and narrative audio storytelling.
  • Ability to manage time and task load independently.
  • Proficient with ProTools and recording equipment.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated journalism, radio and news writing experience.
  • Demonstrated interest in business
