Your Role:

American Public Media Group is looking for a curious and creative Senior HRIS Analyst to join our Human Resources Center of Excellence team. The Senior HRIS Analyst will provide functional and technical expertise in UltiPro, and lead and work closely with functional areas and subject matter experts on HR technology initiatives.

The Senior HRIS Analyst will manage and lead system enhancements, implementations, automation projects, and develop organizational metrics, reports and dashboards. The Senior HRIS Analyst is responsible for the configuration, maintenance, data integrity and reporting of the HR, payroll and timekeeping systems. This position will ensure HR policies are correctly configured and practices are consistently applied across the organization as they relate to HR data and systems. 

Position Responsibility: 

  • Develop strategies to improve the effectiveness and utilization of UltiPro; leverage and utilize complex system configurations to streamline and automate HR processes.
  • Plan, design and implement HR technology projects, including enhancements, upgrades and system replacements.
  • Manage projects from concept through implementation including detailing resource needs, timelines, decision points, training and communication; resolve issues and involve others as appropriate throughout process.
  • Troubleshoot setup issues and errors, provide in-depth analysis of situation and resolve in timely manner; inquire and probe to clarify areas of data inconsistency, errors and differences.
  • Design, develop and create reports, metrics and dashboards ranging from simple to complex in data extraction while focusing on user experience; audit and analyze report data for completeness, accuracy and prepare reports.
  • Perform continuous HRIS data audits to ensure highest level of data integrity exists; establish data format standards and apply throughout systems.
  • Identify, define and coordinate integration needs; collaborate with impacted functional areas and subject matter experts on implementation.
  • Maintain knowledge of vendor technology developments and identify improvements for better and deeper people insights; resolve open issues and assist others in achieving resolution. 
  • Research and make system recommendations to support changes in policy and new business initiatives.
  • Serve as lead system administrator for UltiPro; ensuring security, end user access, and data integrity.
  • Develop and deliver training to HR team, employees and managers on the use of the system, its structures, and navigation tips and tricks; incorporate multiple training methods and conduct on-going training to ensure processes are understood and consistently applied by users.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Required Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, HR or related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of direct experience with HR, with a focus on HRIS systems & processes, project management, system implementations, databases and data analytics, and report creation. 

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: 

  • Ability to correlate operational goals and plans to business and strategic objectives.
  • Ability to translate complex business needs into workable system and process solutions.
  • In-depth understanding and knowledge of HR systems and the inner workings of relational databases.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in HR workflows and HRIS configuration (strong preference for UltiPro); aptitude for Cognos.
  • Strong capabilities in complex multi-platform reporting/BI.
  • Proven ability to initiate change, embrace and learn new technology and systems, and support shifting priorities and responsibilities.
  • Ability to work independently, set priorities and meet conflicting deadlines with a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, analyze and resolve discrepancies and errors.
  • Ability to work with highly confidential and sensitive information where discretion is essential.
  • Proficient to expert level Excel skills; strong Microsoft Office for reporting, analysis and communication.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and ensure key players are involved when necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with creative, energetic and demanding professionals.
  • Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in HR, payroll, compensation and benefits. 

Preferred Skills and Experience: 

  • UltiPro and Cognos experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with payroll and benefits processing strongly preferred.
