Job Description:

Essential Functions:

  • Advises on digital best practices regarding news and media consumption, user experience, search engine optimization, industry research and analytics throughout the company.
  • Advises on how to increase the usage of CT Public content and services on Over-The-Top (OTT) devices, mobile devices, tablets, smart speakers, and other platforms as they emerge.
  • Leads the Digital Services Bureau's vision, strategy, product roadmap, and ways of working owned and driven by the Chief Digital Officer.
  • Oversees the infrastructure of our audience data, industry data, success metrics, KPIs, and reporting
    Leverage industry trends, market research, audience and member data to inform digital strategy and product development.
  • Plays a central role in major strategic decisions Connecticut Public makes in the digital arena including future partnerships and investments.
  • Creates, designs, and launches digital products based in close consultation with the relevant head of each internal department.
  • Seamlessly integrates digital products, processes, and practices within the existing internal customer base.
  • Enables the technology and workflow of a rapidly-growing amount of video produced at each operation within the company.
  • Works in close collaboration with the Membership team to enhance our audience and member digital communication and customer journey, including optimization of the donor experience and implementing digital fundraising strategies
    Work in close collaboration with the Underwriting Department to offer advice on digital pricing, product creation and advertising services

Responsibilities
Our Senior Director has many responsibilities.  Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Champion the mission, vision, and strategic priorities of the organization through actionable and measurable steps, analysis and continued process improvements through the use of KPIs.
  • Organize, staff, and lead the Digital Service Bureau within Connecticut Public.
  • Alongside the Chief Digital Officer, participate in setting audience and revenue goals for each area of the company.
     
  • Work with large, disparate groups within the organization and across functional boundaries with extreme collegiality and professionalism while creating a culture and atmosphere that nurtures creativity, innovation, mutual respect and trust.
  • Represents the Company to the general public, advisory boards, Corporation for Public Broadcasting, NPR, PBS and other professional and community organizations.

Work Environment
Job functions are typically performed in a general administrative setting.  Duties are routinely performed Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.; however, evening, weekend, or holiday support may be necessary.

The physical activities of this position may include frequent in-person interactions.  It is essential to be able to remain at a desk/computer workstation for prolonged periods, speak clearly so others can understand, see details of objects that are between a few feet and more than a few feet away, focus on one sound an ignore others, High stress environment with deadline pressures. Additionally, the employee must have the ability to concentrate for extended periods with frequent interruption, understand, and relate, to the concepts behind specific ideas. The typical physical requirements are: Climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.  These physical demands, with or without reasonable accommodations, are required to perform the essential functions of this job.  

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time salary exempt position.  Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Early morning, nights, weekends, and holiday hours will be necessary.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Data, Analytics, Digital, Dat Science a, or similar field AND a minimum of ten (10) years of direct professional experience working in a digital or related role, with experience in a media organization (preferred) and demonstrated progression in increasingly responsible and varied roles AND/OR any equivalent level of education, training, and experience.
